SAN FERMIN

BUZZSESSIONS

About

It’s a cold and snowy day here in Brooklyn, and with it we have the perfect Buzzsession to share. San Fermin is both simple and immensely complex — they produce incredibly constructed songs bellowed and belted by collaborator vocalists Allen Tate and Rae Cassidy in a way that has drawn comparisons to The National and Sufjan Stevens (not bad company). But San Fermin isn’t a traditionally structured band, their driving force is not the lead guitarist or vocalist, but composer Ellis Ludwig-Leone, who wrote each and every note  of each and every song, from horns and percussion to piano and lyrics, on their self-titled debut full-length, released last September. The band joined us in Manhattan late last year where Tate, Cassidy, Ludwig-Leone, and the rest of the gang recorded “Methuselah”, which just so happens to be my favorite song of theirs.  Watch below and download the recording for free.

‘Buzzsessions’ is a live session series produced by The Wild Honey Pie. With each new episode, we capture footage of our favorite bands as they record alternate studio-quality versions of their songs. This Buzzsession was shot at Engine Room Recordings, a  recording studio in downtown Manhattan.
