Yellowbirds, the latest body of work from Sam Cohen of Apollo Sunshine, showcases Cohen’s ability to take beloved musical sensibility of the past and create something uniquely his own.
Set to hit “shelves” on February 15th via Royal Potato Family Records, Yellowbirds’ The Color is an impeccable collection dripping with classic charm and appeal. With an inspirational basis spanning from Houston to Brooklyn, Sam Cohen channels a 70’s-esque psychedelic folk while occasionally infusing it with more modern ambient sounds, as with “The Color II” and “Pulaski Bridge.” The vivid combination really stands to make an impact with both its recreation and innovation, conjuring up warm feelings of The Beatles and country roots from fellow Texan Roy Orbison.
The exciting occasion of the album’s drop will be marked with a Record Release Party on Saturday February 12th at NYC’s Cake Shop for $8 a ticket, supported by Higgins, Columboid, & Ancient Sky.
Besides making the excellent choice to enjoy their music any time you wish by purchasing your very own copy of The Color, Yellowbirds have scheduled a few more nights out in the near future for you to catch them live.
