White Rabbits played to a sold out crowd last night at Hoboken’s infamous Maxwells. Anyone who was fortunate enough to catch this rock band at such an intimately small venue was in for an incredibly lucky and enjoyable musical experience.
With two albums, Fort Nightly and It’s Frightening, and songs like “Percussion Gun” and “The Plot”, it’s no surprise that this band is continuing to make their mark. Simply put, they release albums you want to listen to from beginning to end, each song holding a piece of their artistic style.
Watching them play literally brings new life to their already incredible music, though. With energetic drum beats mixed with keys, strings and vocals from three of the band members, I found myself addicted to the sound. I imagine this was the case for the entire audience, whether a long time fan or a first time listener about to become one.
Frontmen Stephen Patterson (keys) and Greg Roberts (strings) each have their own unique style of performing, giving a balanced but captivating visual presentation. With high expectations for this indie rock band, their show coming up at Bowery Ballroom this weekend with ARMS, isn’t a show you’ll want to miss.
