Canada gets a lot of crap being north of the tree line and all. With their recent hockey win at the Olympics, we’re a little bitter this side of the border. Musically speaking though, there is some great talent that comes out of Canada. MSTRKRFT anyone?

On a different note, the Canadian based, Tokyo Police Club officially announced that their second full length album Champ will be released June 8th. Along with the news of their album date they are also offering you all a look at their new single Breakneck Speed.

For those of you who don’t know Tokyo Police Club, the Canadian based group formed in 2005, consists of Greg Alsop (drums), Josh Hook (guitar), David Monks (vocals and bass), and lastly Graham Wright (keys and percussion). Up ’til now, Tokyo Police Club has released two EP’s, A Lesson in Crime, a digital-only single, and a full length album, Elephant Shell, released in April of 2008. Their album saw great success resulting in sold out shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City to name a few.  They have been fortunate enough to be featured on such shows as The Late Show with David Letterman and even Desperate Housewives. Who can resist Eva?

In addition to the album, Tokyo Police Club has announced an extensive tour line-up that includes dates in Canada, the US, and Europe. Catch them live at Coachella before they head to Germany. When they return for Europe in June they have quite the run with Passion Pit lined up. See below for tour dates:
