The Greatest is The Greatest Shade – The Joy Formidable The Greatest is The Greatest Shade – The Joy Formidable
Now here’s a band you have to lend an ear to. The Joy Formidable, a product of Wales, is set to leave the comfort of their European home and head over to the US to prove that they, indeed, are as their name states—impressive, powerful, and highly capable of dominating the music scene.
Juddering bass lines, scuffing guitar strings, and fluttering vocal chords are present throughout the work of this trio, making for a welcoming mixture of sound. It’s no wonder Passion Pit’s Ayad Al Adhamy asked them to be the first band to sign to his label, Black Bell Records, off of which they will release their debut album.

Due out May 4, A Balloon Called Moaning will emerge in the midst of the band’s North American tour, which, in reality, is just a few shows along the East Coast and in Canada. New York will be their first stop on April 30, where they will be playing the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian. They are also set to make an appearance at Bamboozle in East Rutherford, NJ on May 2, a chance many up and coming bands would kill for.
Overall, I’d say this is legitimately good music, and even if it doesn’t sound like your style right off the bat, I recommend you give it another listen. It’ll be worth it in the end.
