This is a monumental announcement that I’m making, and I’m definitely not the first to make it known. Two of my favorite bands of all time, Something Corporate and Taking Back Sunday, are back in the studio. You are reading this right! Thought Taking Back Sunday never broke up? Well, they have gone though quite a few lineup changes and are currently back to the original five members, Adam Lazzara, John Nolan (Straylight Run), Eddie Reyes, Shaun Cooper (Straylight Run), and Mark O’Connell.
This is a band to be reckoned with as their first album (made with the current lineup) was by fay their greatest. According the most reliable source in the world, Wikipedia, “On April 12, the band made an official announcement confirming John Nolan and Shaun Cooper have re-joined the band. It was announced that they will soon begin the recording process of their fifth studio album with Louder Now producer Eric Valentine. On the same day, Adam Lazzara did an interview with Alternative Press, in which he discussed how the original line-up got back together and how both Matt Rubano and Matt Fazzi were not fired, but rather “let go.” Lazzara also expressed his excitement of the new songs and how there are already seven done.”
As for Something Corporate, “In February 2010, Andrew McMahon announced that Something Corporate is planning a greatest hits release for the spring of 2010. The band recently returned to the studio to re-record two old songs which originally appeared on their cancelled Galaxy Sessions album: Letters to Noelle and Wait. Adam Young of Owl City is producing a new remix of the song, I Woke Up in a Car. The greatest hits album, named Played in Space: The Best of Something Corporate will be released on April 27, 2010.” While this doesn’t make it seem like they’re completely back together, there’s been news that the band will go on tour together. Here’s to the good old days (when Motorola made the best cell phones and ebaumsworld.com consumed hours of your day)!
