Wales will play host to a mini-tour of the sorts April 8-11. Pete Lawrie, a budding musician in the UK, and his band have decided to grab a camper-van and travel the area in hopes of finding lovely locations to perform their work in.
So far, Penarth Pier, Ystradfellte Waterfalls, Bluebell Woods, and Llangenith have been guaranteed a show. Lawrie’s Long Welsh Weekend will be documented and made into a short-film to be aired sometime after the mini-tour comes to a close.
There is also a special opportunity for one lucky fan to place their venue on the itinerary. All you have to do is play commentator on his journey by tweeting the details with the tag #longwelshweekend and the location of your personal venue, aka your home/restaurant/bar/etc.
If you’re a fan of acoustic music, Lawrie’s deep, tranquil voice has a slight raspiness to it that just makes it all the more appealing, and the instrumental portions can be describe using no other word but beautiful. If I lived in Wales, I would be tweeting away the minute the tour began in hopes of having him play in my backyard. Alas, I’m in NYC, so I’ll just have to settle for his EP, How Could I Complain, which is due to hit shelves April 26 via Field/Island Records.
