Part of Me – Electric Tickle Machine Part of Me – Electric Tickle Machine
If that title doesn’t get your attention, I don’t know what will. Electric Tickle Machine, newcomer from the East Village in NYC (my neighborhood) is hitting the circuit and gaining fans at a rapid pace. They’re bubbly, happy, gleeful, and might cause you to partake in some spontaneous tickling. According to their press release, they’re in New York to “give the hands-in-pockets, New York scene a facelift.”
That’s an understandable desire, but will they be able to have any effect on the hipster community? All I know is that I’m thoroughly enjoying their cotton candy bubble gum rock, and have the need to pick up some pop rocks and run around the East Village. Strange huh?
These are some pretty interesting facts:
- Clark Phillips (percussion and hype) comes from a Mormon Utah family
- Ryan Renn (synth and organ) grew up a Jehovah’s Witness in Pennsylvania
- Their album was championed by the infamous Seattle radio station, KEXP
- They leave a wake of “busted tambourines, sweat-soaked smiles, and well-asserted mischief”
Their debut album is being released on June 29th on the band’s label, Science Diction. Hope you’re enjoying the track above.
