Becoming a Jackal – VillagersBecoming a Jackal – Villagers (Buy)
After a feirce iTunes session, I arise victorious. I’ve found four great new bands for accross the globe. First was Neighbors, featured earlier today. Next? Villagers of Dublin, Ireland.
There’s no doubt Dublin is a great music city but after living in the UK (I know Ireland isn’t in the UK), I’m a bit more fond of:
-
- London
- Glasgow
- Manchester
Villagers rose out of the ashes of The Immediate, who broke up in 2008. Only a day of the breakup, Conor O’Brien formed his new project, which sprouted into an original, beautiful band. Becoming a Jackal has been pumping through my speakers on repeat for about an hour now, and there’s a few things I must note. The lyrics are extremly dark, depressing, deep; however you wish to put it. The National? Antony and the Jonhsons? Not quite, but in the same playing field.
I’m not the only person that likes their music. They were recently listed as on the “The 50 Best Irish Acts Right Now” by The Irish Times.
