Montreal band The Luyas are a magical quartet. They carefully tread the border between pop and experimental with great precision and, particularly with their 2012 album, Animator, a bit of a spooky edge. Led by Jessie Stein and her haunting vocals, the band has released three excellent records, including the aforementioned third album, put out last October on Dead Oceans. The band was in Brooklyn late last year and stopped by the wonderful world of sounds and microphones, better known as Gowanus recording studio Degraw Sound, to record two tracks off that album.
