We chose Middle Kids' "Your Love" and "Edge of Town" as two of the Top 100 Songs of 2017, and the more we hear from them the more we fall in love. Their energetic indie-folk has earned them opening slots for artists such as Ryan Adams, Cold War Kids and The War on Drugs. Now touring across Australia, the UK and the US, it was a treat to reel the Sydney natives into The Wild Honey Pie office in Greenpoint to shoot this special Buzzsession. Our enormous thanks go out to New York based D'Angelico Guitars, whose legendary craftsmanship extends over a century and has helped create amazing music through exquisite tools. We are so proud to exhibit the quality and character of their guitars in this session.
It is impossible not to feel the warmth of husband-and-wife pair Hannah Joy and Tim Fitz's perflectly blended vocals and guitar in this Buzzsession. Joy sings with a low, romantic deepness that is complimented by hers and Fitz's airy instrumentals. The varied, robust vocals are paired with hurried tempos and restless lyrics, calling to mind the likes of Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Fleetwood Mac. Yet even with these familiar accents, there is an indefinable, uniqe aural thumprint setting Middle Kids far apart from others in the indie-folk genre. Fresh and vintage all at once, we can't get enough of Middle Kids. You can catch Middle Kids on tour throughout this spring and summer.
