Vans kicked off their 50th Anniversary last week with an incredible event held at House of Vans Brooklyn with performances from Yeasayer and Nas. Fans lined the sidewalk in the rain well before doors to guarantee a spot at the event, one designed to showcase the shoe brand’s rich legacy. At the concert, fans were treated to burgers, pizza from Robertas, and fix your own waffles which were definitely a hit. Everyone also received a custom pair of slip-on checkered Vans.
The performances were epic. Yeasayer kicked off the night fresh off their newly released single “I Am Chemistry”. They played old favorites as well, like “O.N.E.”. It was a special treat to see this band perform after their brief hiatus, and they expressed their sincere gratitude to be performing again in their hometown.
Fans then stormed the stage to get as close as possible to Nas. It’s easy to see the scope of his incredible influence, as the crowd sang along to every word and participated in every moment. There was a deep respect for the rapper, and rightfully so, as he was an amazing performer. It’ll be one of the best events of spring, by far. Vans knows how to celebrate an anniversary.
