The friendly folk tunes of Kentucky-native Mark Charles Heidinger aka Vandaveer landed in my inbox yesterday, and I’ve been watching this video on repeat since.  The piano/acoustic guitar-driven “Dig Down Deep” is nice and poppy but never strays too far from its folk roots.

The video itself is beautifully shot.  Directed by Pierre Dejon & Just Philippot, it depicts the band, one by one, emerging from the snow to find themselves on a march to the sea.  There’s some very good production value to it, and even when it misses (the strange transition from forrest to beach), it’s still something I’d much rather watch than reused video footage from the 1950s.

The band is currently on tour with dates planned in PA, NY, OH, IL, IN, and more!  Click here for all their dates.
