And that’s not such a bad thing after all. I am not really sure what to say here though. I’m clearly a huge Death Cab for Cutie (@dcfc) fan. I owe my current music taste to their 2001 album The Photo Album, without which I may still be listening to Thursday and Coheed and Cambria.
Their brand new track “Some Boys”, released a couple hours ago, is very different than anything we’ve heard from the band. The highly effected, percussion heavy track isn’t wildly riveting, but there’s something to it that has me interested. Granted, I will like anything these dudes release.
What do you think? Is this what you were expecting when Ben Gibbard said their upcoming album Codes and Keys would feature far less guitar. Are they experimenting with new sounds for the sake of experimenting or is this new direction part of the natural evolution of the band?
On a side note, which version of Ben Gibbard do you prefer? Chubby and lovable, or skinny and hip with Zooey Deschanel on his arm? Answer here.
