When we set out to film a buzzsession, no matter how well we plan, there’s never any telling what will happen. That can be evidenced by last week’s shoot with New York’s The Last Royals. We were treated to an absurdly nice day and a playground filled with excited music-loving youngsters instead of the empty snow-covered park I had expected.
The band met me in the park around 1PM, and after setting up their drums, keys, and tuning their bass and guitar, were ready to perform for an audience of eager parents and children alike. I hate to be tacky, but these videos capture some really precious moments; kids experiencing indie rock for the first time, and parents proudly exposing their children to the music that they themselves love. Enjoy the garage rock side of The Last Royals below and please make sure to watch the last 30 seconds of the second video!

‘Buzzsessions’ is a live session series made by The Wild Honey Pie. With each new episode, we travel with a different band to a different part of New York City and record sometimes-intimate/sometimes-wild versions of two or three songs which are given away for free.
