The Yugos Create Angular Lo-Fi Pop on ‘Take Some Time’ [Premiere]

Nothing peaks our interest more than some stuttering guitars – so it’s no surprise that from the first moment we pressed play on The Yugos‘ newest track “Take Some Time” we were in love. The Cincinnati based band draws from the post-punk and lo-fi traditions of yore to make something that’s simultaneously groovy and angular. The track is catchy and interesting, a perfect strange pop song. Of the track the band says:

The lyrics to this song is inspired by an “Octopus’s Garden” type dreamscape. Imagine you’re dreaming of walking with someone you love then waking up too soon. We’re really into Surfer Blood and actually had the opportunity to play with them – so they are a big inspiration for us. This song reflects that in the outro guitar riff. “Take Some Time” reminds us a lot of our first two albums because it’s more playful.
