THE YOUNG VEINS ROOFTOP PERFORMANCE [BUZZSESSION]

Last week, I packed my camera bags and headed over to the Atlas apartment building in New York City with our new photographer, David Kepner.  The Young Veins were playing a rooftop show that night, and we had been invited to shoot some videos with them, an opportunity I had been waiting for since this new band announced their inception.

For those who may not be aware, The Young Veins is comprised of Ryan Ross, Jon Walker, Nick Murray, Andy Soukal, and Nick White.  Recognize any of those names?  Ross and Walker previously played in a band called Panic at the Disco, which you may or may not have heard before.

The Young Veins, though slightly recognizable as the former Panic dudes, have gone in a completely different direction with their music.  60s pop is definitely their distinguishing sound, with three part harmonies and the lack of any electronic tinkering (something that is extremely rare these days).  On this particular evening, with the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings as their backdrop, The Young Veins provided proof time and time again why they are one of the most talked about indie-ish bands around.
