What are you doing this Saturday? I know I speak for everyone at The Wild Honey Pie when I say we’d love to see you at Pianos for our next ‘The Wild Honey Pie Presents’ show! Celebrate Foursquare Day 2011 in style with Kelli Scarr, The Wools, Indian Rebound, plus a very special guest set from one of my favorite bands.
You don’t have to be a Foursquare user to join in on the fun. Tickets are only $10, and the music will be flowing from 8-midnight. Come by at any hour, grab a drink, and watch some amazing bands do their thing in a very intimate setting. Make sure to say hi to me and Lauren when we’re not manning the camera!
Kelli Scarr — 11PM
“Kelli Scarr was born in Monterey, CA and spent the first part of her childhood in the Salinas Valley, a part of California referred to by author John Steinbeck as the “pastures of heaven”. At the age of twelve, Kelli moved with her mom and brother to the small mining town of Folsom, California, made popular by its’ local prison and a very special concert held there in 1968. It was during her frequent drives between her parents’ homes in these two towns that she spent her time listening to the radio and soaking in the dusky skies that would later provide the colors for her music.”
Bastard Song – The Wools Bastard Song – The Wools (Free Download) — 10PM
“One weekend in November of 2010, three longtime friends left Brooklyn for a cabin in Vermont in search of a little cold in which to build a fire and find inspiration, and, as fate would have it, to form a new band. The boys returned to the city with new songs in tow and immediately holed up in a makeshift storage space studio belong to Wilco’s Mikael Jorgensen, where they skillfully produced, engineered, and mixed their own debut EP.”
Special Guest — 9PM
Sitges – Indian Rebound Sitges – Indian Rebound (Free Download) — 8PM
“Indian Rebound is made up of members of New York natives, Ethan Levenson, Gianni de Falco and John Kallen, a recent transplant from Michigan. They began playing together shortly after meeting in high school. Drawing inspiration from 1950 and 1960’s pop music, Indian Rebound puts a youthful twist in their songwriting and production.”
