Before clicking play on the new single from The Weepies, I was already fairly convinced of what I was getting — something akin to the acoustic chill/sadness of their previous offerings. “No Trouble”, though, took me by surprise. What begins as a lo-fi keyboard melody quickly grows into a lush web of backing harmonies, percussion, and deep synth layers. Driven by the underlying repetition of “trouble” that lingers throughout the song, there’s a certain tension that forcefully carries the track from start to finish. If this new single is any indication, I’m now counting down the days till the April 28 release of their new album Sirens.
