june5 TEEN DAZE, JAPANDRIODS, FRIENDS

Some seriously anticipated releases are hitting the shelves (or, you know, iTunes) this week. Two of the most talked about bands, Japandroids and Teen Daze, are released their newest efforts and newbies Friends are exploding into the scene with their debut LP. Let June listening begin!

Note: We originally had The Walkmen listed here, but they actually pushed up the release date to last week!

JAPANDROIDS – CELEBRATION ROCK

A decidedly different take on rock music than The Walkman, Japandriods (@japandroids) have been lighting up the scene for a while with their balls out, blasting sounds. On their second full length, the Vancouver boys are still making the unbridled and primal music that made them famous — it’s prickly and ecstatic, just how we like it.

Teen Daze (@teendaze) is the perfect name for this Canadian electronic group — their music feels just like the summer after high school. It’s chillwave without the inherent sadness, electronica without the giddy euphoria. It’s that special form of dreamy that just makes you smile. There’s a reason Teen Daze has been eating up the blogs and radio waves: it’s nice music for nice people and absolutely perfect for summer.

FRIENDS – MANIFEST!

Friends (@afriendszone) is a band everyone seems to be talking about these days, and with the release of Manifest! the conversation is not likely to stop soon. Granted, it’s not hard to see why the Brooklyn band is on everyone’s lips. The sassy, girl-fronted group holds down a mean groove that somehow manages to stay interesting and catchy all at the same time. Their hotly anticipated full-length debut is sure to be one of this summers biggest hits.
