I’ll Build You A Fire – Seabear I’ll Build You A Fire – Seabear (Buy)

One can only imagine that hoards of travel agents are inundated lately with seemingly random requests for trips to Iceland, no doubt sparked by the music of Seabear. The seven-piece group brings forth idyllic indie-folk that emanates the same scenic splendor as their homeland.

Seabear’s second album We Built a Fire and their While the Fire Dies EP were simultaneously released earlier this year. The two efforts are quite a complementary duo, with the EP tracks acting as livelier answers to the more delicate lullabies on the full-length album. Overall, their sound is fanciful and optimistic, full of rich seven-part harmonies and dazzling folk arrangements.

Apparently, for two to three months in the summer, Iceland boasts a state of continuous daylight. This idea of consistent warmth and brilliance is also the perfect way to describe the beautiful stylings of Seabear.

The gang won’t be around for CMJ, but you can find them this Saturday in New York at Highline Ballroom.  Don’t worry west coasters, they’re headed your way from here soon enough.
