Having recently finished “studying” and yet to find a job, I am now, for the first time in my life, a waster. Sleeping in, drinking in the afternoon, watching an impossible amount of daytime TV – this lifestyle would be unsustainable were it not for the World Cup.

Driven by an unbearable sense of my own worthlessness, I guess I would normally get off my arse and find something useful to turn my increasingly flabby mind to. But, when you can wake up just in time to catch Chile vs Honduras, as I did today, then frankly there’s just no incentive.

As a musician, the World Cup’s main draw is the fact that every match sounds like it’s been soundtracked by an obscure unreleased Sun O))) track, or the 1978 horror classic about a Texan bee invasion, The Swarm. The sport might be tedious, but at least the atonal drone holds some worth as an artistic expression.

In the spirit of all things international, we got our first ever German review through this week. None of us can speak German, so we ran it past the ever-reliable Google Translator.

Here are some choice extracts: “[...] at times we hear her debut album in Spotify Pull Us Apart pure. [...] The entry Found Myself Smiling is pretty spooky intense […] At Abacus Rex crystal clear sound on guitar and smashed it to be almost jazzy, playful Bassjammereien. After that it is compliant with Every Coin […] A bridge, lobby makes things more pleasant [...] Thematically, it revolves entirely around serious issues such as domestic violence and feeding of coins in raids.”

I think that tells you all you really need to know. You’ll probably want to buy it now, won’t you? Available in all good blah blah blah.
