You’re Already Gone – The Dig (Free Download / Buy)
Fresh off a five week run with The Joy Formidable and GROUPLOVE, powerhouse rockers The Dig are gearing up for a week of winter travels throughout the northeast with California quartet Chief.
Now, very rarely can a Tuesday lay claim to being the most exciting weeknight, but after being lucky enough to attend the final night of the aforementioned tour with The Joy Formidable at Bowery, there was really no question.
It was The Dig that strummed the first note of the evening, and ended up stealing the show. All the bands were bummed to see this amazing tour end, (Can you blame them? What a lineup!) but these four guys were clearly excited to finish up in their native New York. It’s not hard to believe that they’ve been musically active together since elementary school once you hear the deftness of their guitar riffs, the penetrating tones of their bass lines, and the confidence in their unrivaled harmonies.
Touting a few new songs to supplement the tried and true favorites off their Electronic Toys album, the band never experienced a shortage of crowd approval, vigorous clap-along, and general rocking out. Balancing expertly between clean-edged and downright nitty gritty, they leave nothing to be desired and definitely leave you craving more. I absolutely recommend that you try to make it out to see them next week before we send them over to entertain our Midwestern friends for their first scheduled 2011 gig in Chicago with Mystery Jets.
