Tennis has amassed quite the fan base with a catalog of merely three songs. While speaking with them before our live session last week, they expressed their amazement in the size of the crowd at their Cake Shop gig the evening before. Little did they know they’d be playing a sold out show at Glasslands that evening. Though their staunchest NY supporters are only familiar with their sole release, an EP entitled Baltimore, the place was packed beyond anything I’ve ever seen.
For our Buzzsession, Alaina, Patrick, Reed, and I wandered from Glasslands, around the corner to a spot that seemed a bit less traveled by motor-vehicles. We didn’t consider how many helicopters would be flying by, and they’re pretty obvious in the recording.
Special thanks to Melanie Steinway for her amazing art. For more of her work, click here.
‘Buzzsessions’ is a live session series made by The Wild Honey Pie. With each new episode, we travel with a different band to a different part of New York City and record sometimes-intimate/sometimes-wild versions of two or three songs which are given away for free.
