Vensaire’s music is lovely, lighthearted and eccentric, with a broad range of influences that all incorporate themselves seamlessly into each song. Last September, the Brooklyn band released their debut self-titled EP, one of the most polished first albums I’ve heard in a long time. At times, the sound is electronic and danceable, and at others it’s psychedelic. Throughout, the songs firmly incorporate traditional Chinese music.
One of the album’s great qualities is that each track is meant to represent one individual member, each of whose influences and personal styles are very unique. The band has stated that this is a way to introduce themselves to listeners. Indeed, the album is a great introduction. Nice to meet you Vensaire — I’ve got a feeling we’ll be hearing more and more about you.
Stream the EP in its entirely above and then start looking forward to their debut full length Perdix due out later this year.
