20best 550x227 TOP 20 FREE PARTIES OF CMJ 2012

There are some people who believe CMJ is like any other Friday night in NYC, but they’re simply wrong. CMJ is night after night of amazing music and free parties — so many that choosing just one feels wrong. We here at The Wild Honey Pie love CMJ so much (as witnessed by our 3 parties) that we just couldn’t help but compile a list of all our favorite [READ ON]

The streets of Williamsburg belonged to musicians, even more than normal, for the four days that the Northside Festival staked its ground. There was a constant bustle of badge-clad press agents, photographers, managers and agents in addition to guitarists toting their instruments and lead singers trailed by groupies. Booze was certainly also flowing freely. At Good Co. on Hope Street, Jameson hosted a party [READ ON]

Lots of good music this week! Bradford Cox delivers yet another eccentric masterpiece and Brian Eno lets loose with more recordings from the studio sessions of his last album. The Miracals give us their first release under a brand new name and Zambri bursts onto the scene with a tantalizing debut EP. Plus, Noel Gallagher’s first foray into a post-Oasis world. [READ ON]

HOORAY FOR EARTH/ZAMBRI

860 days ago by Eric Weiner

A few weeks ago, Noel Heroux of Hooray For Earth and his friends from fellow Brooklyn group Zambri joined me and Lauren for a nice little afternoon in her Brooklyn backyard.  Noel and the Zambri gang performed the brand new Hooray For Earth song, “True Loves”, as well as a Zambri’s “Carry”.  These super interesting alternate takes of their songs are far different than what you’ll find on their album, but equally brillaint.  I’ve been listening to “True Loves” on my iPhone for weeks now.  Enjoy.

‘Buzzsessions’ is a live session series made by The Wild Honey Pie.  With each new episode, we travel with a different band to a different part of New York City and record sometimes-intimate/sometimes-wild versions of two or three songs which are given away for free.
