Lucius hit the stage at Knitting Factory last Friday night for what had to be one of the best shows we’ve covered this year. Though I’ve seen the band countless times, they never cease to amaze with perfect harmonies, cheerful banter, and top notch musicianship. While each song was a highlight, their final encore was what really sticks in my memory — the band stepped out into the crowd [READ ON]

You’ve been asking us if we’ll be down in Austin, Texas for SXSW this year.  Well, the answer is “hell yes we’ll be in Austin!”  It seems as if the slow build up to the year’s most important/fun music conference/festival has, in two days, become a tidal wave of excitement and nerves.  Having worked on putting together this party for the last months, we are extremely proud to share the lineup and invite [READ ON]

JANUARY IS MOTION

January Mixtape updated1 JANUARY IS MOTION

Happy New Year, folks! For January’s mixtape theme, I chose motion. Even though the new year is an arbitrary date and resolutions are hard to stick to and America is a hungover mess today and yadda yadda yadda, I still get really amped about the fresh start, and I’m sure I’m not alone. This playlist is meant to get your blood pumping and infuse your brain with happy vibes. Think of it as waking up on the right side of the bed, like, 31 times in a row.

Of special note, “Rooftop”, which appears in this month’s mixtape, is taken from the Lady Lamb the Beekeeper debut studio release Ripely Pine, due out [READ ON]

Upstairs at Pianos was completely packed for the Banners party all night on Tuesday, not surprising given the stellar line-up. We had a blast listening to favorites both new and old — each one blowing up the upstairs bar with their unique sounds. Check out the pictures of the party below and be sure to catch us Thursday at Bar Matchless for another wild [READ ON]

20best 550x227 TOP 20 FREE PARTIES OF CMJ 2012

There are some people who believe CMJ is like any other Friday night in NYC, but they’re simply wrong. CMJ is night after night of amazing music and free parties — so many that choosing just one feels wrong. We here at The Wild Honey Pie love CMJ so much (as witnessed by our 3 parties) that we just couldn’t help but compile a list of all our favorite [READ ON]

Love is in the air, and so is good music. This week’s releases are all a bit retro-inspired, some leaning more toward the psych-rock side of the spectrum (You Won’t, Field Music) and some on the lighter, poppier side (Islands, Tennis, Lucius). Whatever your [READ ON]
