bestep2010 TOP 15 EP/7 OF 2010

After a ton of thought and internal bickering, we’re finally releasing our year end lists.  It took a good amount of time, and a lot of thought to figure all of this out, but I’m seriously happy with the lists we’ve put together.  2010 has been called a flop of a year for music, but when it comes to the EP/7″ category, I really don’t agree.  The follow are 15 of our favorite EPs and 7″ releases of the year.  Keep in mind, this is just our opinion [READ ON]

THE SO SO GLOS

935 days ago by Eric Weiner

When I met The So So Glos last week to film our session, it was our original intention to shoot on a football field close-by their Brooklyn apartment.  A soccer game made this impossible, so we took a seat on a stoop just outside of the school’s fences.  What we have is our own little version of Talk Stoop (anyone that’s been in a cab knows what I’m talking about); a version that’s actually entertaining.

As our first session after CMJ, this was quite the way to get over my post-festival blues.  These guys are really awesome live, and seeing them in this setting was just as amazing.  Their new EP, Low Back Chain Shift, is one of my favorites of the year.  Check it out here.

Special thanks to Melanie Steinway for the amazing art above.  For more of her work, click here.

‘Buzzsessions’ is a live session series made by The Wild Honey Pie.  With each new episode, we travel with a different band to a different part of New York City and record sometimes-intimate/sometimes-wild versions of two or three songs which are given away for free.

Nothing But Our Love – Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Nothing But Our Love – Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. (Free Download)

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. is definitely a contender for biggest breakout act of CMJ, especially after having made at least seven appearances during the five day festival. They were nothing like I expected yet everything I’d want them to be, doling out utterly irresistible synth-pop complete with pounding drum beats and flawless falsetto harmonies [READ ON]
