KID MOUNTAIN MAKES US ‘HAPPIES’ [STREAM]

kid mountain1 KID MOUNTAIN MAKES US HAPPIES [STREAM]

Kid Mountain makes the sort of music that attaches itself between youth and adulthood, in that phase where life is still bright and intoxicating yet forcing just a tad more sobriety with each passing day. Their debut full-length, Happies, is full of reverb and playful melodies, and there are definite Youth Lagoon-esque moments, but often Happies sounds like an experimental take on The Beach Boys. TEGAN AND SARA’S HEARTTHROB

To me, the best kind of pop music is the kind that can fashion a certain duality for itself, like upbeat and catchy instrumentation with torn and tender songwriting. Whether it be a classic such as The Beach Boys’ “Sloop John B,” or the futuristic stylings of Robyn’s Body Talk. After more than a decade of uniting fans of all backgrounds, Bonnaroo sometimes feels less like a music festival and more like a vibrant, thriving city of 80,000 that only springs to life for one weekend every year. In the seclusion of the forests and farmland of Manchester, TN, attendees are always greeted by old familiar landmarks and festival traditions that brought everyone together originally. Bonnaroo derives its name from the New Orleans [READ ON]
