Lucius hit the stage at Knitting Factory last Friday night for what had to be one of the best shows we’ve covered this year. Though I’ve seen the band countless times, they never cease to amaze with perfect harmonies, cheerful banter, and top notch musicianship. While each song was a highlight, their final encore was what really sticks in my memory — the band stepped out into the crowd [READ ON]

Whether I feel it or not, this will be my fourth time down to Austin for SXSW. As you’d probably expect, I’ve learned new things about the festival each and every time — things that have become essential to my surviving the week-long music extravaganza. It occurred to me the other day that not everyone who takes part in the festival knows what to expect, so I decided that we’d lend a hand and share some tips on how to survive [READ ON]

This past Friday, Lucius and Tall Tall Trees performed to a wonderfully-stuffy, sold out audience at Mercury Lounge. Gushing with gratitude, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, the band’s two singers, thanked their fans for the support and played an absolutely miraculous set.

Lucius have certainly grown as a live band, which is quite the statement considering their beginnings were pretty auspicious as well. Their precesnce now, though, is representative of how much they’ve achieved since then — a confidence and energy that comes from knowing that people [READ ON]

LUCIUS

177 days ago by Eric Weiner

For Christmas this year, we wanted to do something very special for our viewers.  We couldn’t think of anything more meaningful to us than our friends and family so we decided to film a Honey I’m Home session with our close friends, Brooklyn’s own Lucius.  Not only are they our dearest friends but they are also a part of The Wild Honey Pie family as each and every one of our Honey I’m Home sessions is shot in their home, produced by the gorgeous Jess Wolfe (vocals in Lucius), and mixed by the talented Dan Molad (drums in Lucius).  I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Enjoy both videos, including their [READ ON]

TOP 15 EPS/7″ OF 2012

Whether a result of the growth in music’s DIY culture, a reaction to our declining attention span or simply a method to explore new sonic territory, EPs (and at times, 7″) have increasingly become the bread and butter of almost all new projects. A tightly packed unit of songs, EPs allow musicians the opportunity to present a cohesive, thematic tone — a method sometimes preferable to the sprawl of a full-length release. They can also act as a way to showcase a few songs with starkly different styles, acting as a sort of appetizer to an artist’s full talent.

Below, you’ll find our favorite picks for EPs released in 2012. Not surprisingly, the records below represent some of our favorite compositions of the entire year, full-length [READ ON]
