FIELD MUSIC’S PLUMB

field music plumb 550x550 FIELD MUSICS PLUMB

The British are coming! This time around, though, they’re coming via airwave. Hailing from across the pond, Field Music (@fieldmusicmusic) have taken influences from their British Invasion predecessors and gleefully pushed it to experimental fringes in every direction. Plumb, their fourth studio release, is an ambitious exploration that brings together hyper-eclectic instrumentation with a prophetic songwriting style that is warm and wide-eyed. With its seemingly endless hunger for change, Plumb is one of the most emotionally diverse albums I’ve heard since Making Mirrors from Australian-native Gotye. [READ ON]

Love is in the air, and so is good music. This week’s releases are all a bit retro-inspired, some leaning more toward the psych-rock side of the spectrum (You Won’t, Field Music) and some on the lighter, poppier side (Islands, Tennis, Lucius). Whatever your [READ ON]

primaheads1 PRIMAVERA SOUND 2011 FESTIVAL GUIDE

Hola from Spain!  I was lucky enough to make the trip over here to Barcelona for Primavera Sound, a music festival featuring some of my absolute favorite bands in the entire world.  I’ve put together an official guide to help those who are also in attendance navigate through the madness.  I haven’t mentioned every band playing, only [READ ON]

EUROPE IM LEAVING FOR EUROPE

Hey there!  I am in quite the mood as exactly 48 hours from now, I will be on a Virgin Atlantic flight to London.  While I have a couple meetings over there, it’s really just a fun trip I’m taking with my friend, exploring parts of Europe I’ve never been and returning to places where my friends and family live.  Why am I writing this?  Well, I’d love to see if anyone had suggestions for my travels.  Places to see, bands [READ ON]

FIELD MUSIC’S MEASURE

field music measure FIELD MUSICS MEASURE

Sorry for being late with this one!  Measure, from the English band Field Music, has been out for a little under a month, but it’s definitely worth getting to now than never at all.  Front men and brothers Peter and David Brewis hail from from Sunderland, England, and are bursting with musical talent and ideas, which they demonstrate in this double album release. This record seems to continue exactly where their previous album left off, yet possesses a tremendous amount of musical confidence that was not present before. [READ ON]

FIELD MUSIC

Field Music’s forthcoming album, Measure, has just begun circulating throughout the music industry. I was very fortunate to get myself a copy (it’s being released to the general public on February 16, 2010), and after a quick listen to all of the tracks, I am quite satisfied with the album.
