Syvia’s ‘Anxious Animal’ Is A Disquieted Shoegaze Gem [Premiere]

With their gauzy guitar and vocals that harken back to the heyday of Metric, Syvia is scratching the near constant itch we have for plaintive pop. The newest track “Anxious Animal” has all the hallmarks of the perfect playlist song, from the heavy percussion and sighing guitar to the directly melancholic vocals of singer Ruth Mirsky. It’s a track that chugs along effortlessly, spreading out into every space it hits. The real standout of the track is the shoegaze guitar that never looses its grip on an anxious, disquieted mood. Check out the track above and be sure look out for Syvia’s new EP in February 2016.
