Kaleo La Belle’s project, “Crooked River”, which catalogues the drive home of brothers Marzuki and Sufjan Stevens to visit their estranged father, has been lying dormant for over four years now. With the film’s new Facebook page and trailer, though, it’s obvious that things are beginning to move in the right direction.
While the movie was originally held up because of family privacy concerns, it now appears that it’s headed straight to DVD this spring (allegedly). Given the level of privacy that Sufjan Stevens generally maintains, I’m interested to watch the mysterious persona brought to life, particularly given the deeply personal nature of the movie. Not to mention the fact that “Crooked River” is likely riddled with some amazing Sufjan tracks.
