Songs to Help You Earn Your Keep

Some people refuse to leave the workforce. Some people can’t wait for the day to retire to their hut on the island of Roatan with the large front porch with the hammock and the ocean breeze. There are others that refuse to retire – perhaps they’re scared of being bored, or maybe their IRA hasn’t recovered yet from the 2008 recession.  Some millenials haven’t even started in the workforce yet because they are are faced with scariest Willy Loman decision of all: Do I take that position selling vacuums, just to get experience? There are also the few chosen ones lucky enough to stay in their pj’s all day – the work-from-home-ers.

Whether you love your job, hate your job, or just feel a complete numbness towards your job, this playlist will help get you through the workday.

Hozier – Work Song

Your soulful soaring vocals keep us in dreamland, Hozier. There’s no way we’re getting out of bed for work right now. Snooze, it is.

Wiz Khalifa – Work Hard, Play Hard

Wiz, you’re right. The repetitive beats on this track pulled us right out of bed…and now all we can think about is playing hard at happy hour.

Donna Summer – She Works Hard for Her Money

Thanks Disco Queen, for recognizing our efforts.

Rush – Working Man

Or WO-man, right, Rush? Your rocking tunes help get us through that 10am conference call on which we may or may not have heard the actual conversation.

Britney Spears – Work B**ch

What’d you call me? It’s alright Brit, this bad-ass vibe suits you. It’s much more professional than the pigtails and knee-highs.

Aloe Blacc – I Need A Dollar

For real, Aloe, I need like ten dollars for lunch. And I need someone to help me decide a very important decision: Sushi or Burrito today?

Drive by Truckers – This F***ing Job

Our sentiments exactly.

Plain White T’s – Never Working

This one goes out to that very special co-worker that always looks like they’re working.

Bruce Springsteen – Working on a Dream

Bruce, we’re working on daydreaming about you to get us over this 3pm hump.

Ozzy Osbourne – Working Class Hero

Does passing the time perusing Facebook and Huffington Post count as being a hero?

Bob Dylan – Workingman’s Blues #2

We’re in the bluesy mood…until the clock strikes 5:00.

The Jacksons – Working Day and Night

No we are not, you guys. We are not working day AND night. Not today.

Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa (feat. Bruno Mars) – Young, Wild & Free

Free! Now that we’re free, the only thing that would make it better would be if these 3 showed up to our happy hour.
