Australian singer Sloan Peterson (Joannah Jackson’s pseudonym) has got a few tricks up her very fashionable sleeves. “A love child of 50’s guitar pop and modern garage rock,” Peterson’s solo act has got a seriously fun retro flair that’s not only evident in her music, but also in her overall artistry that we’re just beginning to see with the “105” music video. The video is layered with personal style (featuring clothing from Australian designers including Scanlan Theodore, Dion Lee, Jac+Jack, and more), modern dancing, and runway show makeup. Combined with her take on garage pop, the song and video capture nostalgic and futuristic vibes all at once. She somehow can pull so much from the past, yet easily make it new.
And did we forget to mention that this is the first video to be filmed at Sydney’s Strand Arcade since David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” in 1983? Yeah, we told you she’s pretty cool. Her debut EP is still in progress, but check out the video above and keep an eye out for Peterson selling out shows/gracing the covers of music and fashion magazines/etcetera etcetera.
