When it comes to new music, whether it is completely new to your ears or something from your favorite artist, it takes time to feel out the material and get to know it. Yet with Carl Hauck, even if you’ve never heard him before, you’ll feel instantly at home with his new album Windjammer.

The young folk singer-songwriter hails from Illinois, and his 4th album is oozing with midwestern charm and innocence. Though predominantly founded on gentle acoustic melodies, there are some stunning horn accents on “Coffee on the Rocks” and string accompaniment on the title track Windjammer”. The soothing tunes effortlessly transition into one another, and before you know it you’re starting the entire album all over again, happily searching for more of the lovely subtleties hidden in the songs.

Sensitive and soft-spoken, Carl possesses similarities to James Morrison and Eric Hutchinson. Even so, his poetic lyrical sensibilities and finger-picking style set him apart from the rest. If you’re looking for something beautiful to enjoy, Carl Hauck’s Windjammer is your answer, set to release November 9th, 2010.
