A few weeks ago, we shared Portland duo Pure Bathing Culture’s brand new single “Pray For Rain”, and now the sultry dark-pop track has its own impactful music video. Taking place in a cavernous, neon-drenched strip club, the clip is simplistic in its storyline but complex in its implications. With a clever and careful reversal of the expected progression of the video, a man walks into the club and experiences the unfolding of his own subconscious. Presented against the lucid backdrop of Sarah Versprille’s plaintive vocals and Daniel Hindman’s pulsating synths, the undulating movements of the video’s principal players provide a perfect counterpart to the melody. The song’s refrain of “are you cut in two?” rings ever clearer, and Pure Bathing Culture once more prove their stature as rising artists.
