Portland indie duo Pure Bathing Culture have announced their sophomore album, Pray For Rain, and shared the driving title track. Produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, Swans), the song is an enticing preview of a record that promises to display the band coming into their own as musicians and songwriters. A pulsating synth bass line snakes underneath chiming guitars and lead singer Sarah Versprille’s nimble vocals, creating an entrancing, layered statement of a track with strains of Lower Dens and Widowspeak. “Are you cut in two / cut all the way through?” Versprille demands, condemning those who carelessly hurt the ones they love. Pray For Rain is out on Partisan Records on October 23, and you can catch Pure Bathing Culture on tour this fall.
