Closing off day two of Lollapalooza at the north end was my fav French group Phoenix. Picture a large mass of hot, sweaty people dancing like there’s no tomorrow, and a group of frat fucks that are uncomfortably close to you gyrating all up on your ass. This is pretty much what it was like during Phoenix’s headlining show at Lollapalooza.
In the past year Phoenix have increased their fan base here in America by a lot. Naturally, everyone and their dad came to watch them perform. Along with their catchy tunes, Phoenix provided an awesome light show throughout their performance. The best part of the whole performance was during the second encore (yes second) they played “1901″.
Before starting their hit song, lead singer Tomas Mars thanked the fans for being “awesome” and declared the lolla crowd their “biggest one yet.” Then they all took a second to soak in all that was happening around them. Naturally Mars then jumped into the crowd and sang the chorus then was carried like an alternative rock god. After finishing the song all but guitarists Laurent Brancowitz left the stage. Mars came back out and the two of them had a seductive eye exchange then the next thing we knew it, they started to playing “1901″ again and the crowd that was departing the stage area rushed back to continue the dance party.
It was really cute to see five French boys, that aren’t arrogant assholes play their hearts out. Definitely a was quite a show/dance party.
