After my friend Steven Smith (RIP buddy) exposed me to Ohio band Frends (@frendsmusic) this past November, I went on a serious listening spree. Admittedly, you can only get so far with four songs. I sat and I hoped and I wished that they’d send me some new stuff, but then news that they’d broken up hit Facebook. I lost all hope until I emailed the band, and they squashed the claim.
With this joyous news, I jumped and yelped with pure happiness. “Modern Times”, “Toronto”, and “Average Camps” rotated constantly in my iTunes again. Good day. An even better day? Today! Just a few minutes ago, the band sent me two brand new songs that provide clear evidence that these dudes are maturing, and doing so faster than I could have expected.
Both “This Past Year” and “…whores” are phenom, yet the latter seems to be a better example of what’s to come. It’s very well mixed and plays like on a gem on my new speakers. Check them both out above and download for free.
