Following in the footsteps of Iceland’s stellar roster of recent acts, Of Monsters and Men’s (@monstersandmen) new EP Into the Woods is ripe with diverse instrumentation, pop-driven vocals, and a vibe that blends the upbeat and whimsical with a surprising depth. The six-member band from Reykjavik has enjoyed incredible growth following their win in Iceland’s annual battle of the bands, Músiktilraunir, and this EP proves it was a well-deserved victory. Filled with stories inspired by true-to-life events, fantastic tales, and lyricism that tackles a range of emotions, each song stands alone with a unique structure and dynamic, blended male and female vocals.
While their full-length, My Head Is an Animal, isn’t currently available in the US, the band has promised both a release early this year and tour dates to match. The EP can be streamed in its entirety on the band’s Facebook, so be sure to give it a listen!
