A LITTLE BUT OF INDIE FOLK

Due to today’s much anticipated release of Sufjan Stevens‘ album Run Rabbit Run (which was very disappointing due to its lack of lyrics), I have decided to devote an entire post to some of my favorite indie folk artists. The genre is really something I have grown to love ever since my emo-listening days. It’s amazing how many different instruments these bands have managed to fit into their repertoire.

The unique combinations of banjos, harmonicas, violins, fiddles, accordion, etc. that these bands come up seems inventive yet also reminds me of older music at the same time. Musicians such as Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, Bob Dylan, and Simon and Garfunkel all seem to be honored by a slew of current bands that put a contemporary twist on their style of music. Listen to some of these tracks, and decide for yourself. This is a style of music that most definitely transcends generations. Dad, you’ll love these ones!
