Time for a new band to listen to! Check out the Icy Shores, a Minneapolis band, who play loud, rockin’ indie influenced by the Afghan Whigs, Nirvana and Nada Surf. The band, originally a four-piece, is now down to singer/guitarist Nick Hegarty, drummer/backup vocalist Nick Larsen, and bassist Shane Stubblefield after singer/guitarist Hunter Jonakin left to pursue other interests. Their first album, What You Get and How You Get It, the band toured around Minneapolis and produced a music video for the album’s single Backseat released by Catlick Records.
The Icy Shores began recording their new album The Opposite of Your Heart in 2007; the album was produced by Bryan Hanna (The Hang-Ups, Golden Smog), mixed by J. Robbins (Promise Ring, Jawbox) and mastered by Bruce Hamilton at Magneto Mastering. While recording The Opposite of Your Heart singer Nick Hegarty even had time to co-write the leading track for Antony and the Johnsons‘ The Crying Light!
The Opposite of Your Heart was released on Catlick Records on May 4. For more information on the Icy Shores go to www.myspace.com/theicyshores. To listen to a track from The Opposite of Your Heart go here:
