Hooligans – NeighborsHooligans – Neighbors (Buy)

Every band has to see its demise.  From The Beatles and Oasis, to The Beach Boys and Pela, bands of all sizes call it quits at one point or another (except The Rolling Stones). After Jacksonknife split sometime around 2008, the very talented Noah Stitelman went out and started something entirely new and original.  Brooklynites, Neighbors, began playing together in 2009, and have been blasting on my speakers since discovering them last week.

Their debut EP, Hooligans, is a layered masterpiece created by Stitleman in his apartment.  After completing his work on the album, he received additional help from producer Kyle Johnson who previously worked with Modest Mouse, The Hives, and Rogue Wave.  Hooligans sounds nothing like the aforementioned bands, owning a very unique sound for its entirety.  While many of the artists we feature on this site earn comparisons to artists of the past, Neighbors is a product of today.
