Singer-songwriter Michael Nau has given us a deep breath of fresh air just in time for spring. From his upcoming album Some Twist, “Good Thing” is the perfect mix of light psychedelia and nourishing folk that makes me think of opening up the windows again, cleaning house, and starting anew. Reminiscent of The War on Drugs’ “Lost In The Dream,” Nau’s new track creates a dreamscape in reality, a soundtrack for making plans for the future and moving on. Lead both by Nau’s melodic voice and the sweet notes of the piano, the meandering guitar and buzzing analog sound creates an oddly uplifting symphony, transforming the lyrics of failure as simply facts of life. Just in time for a season of new beginnings, “Good Things” reminds us of the trials of life, and how they do not define us.
