Congratulations by MGMT
Ok, let me start by saying everyone who has dissed [Congratulations by MGMT] for not being nearly as good as Oracular Spectacular is sadly mistaken. I’m not saying Oracular [Spectacular] was a bad album, I’m just saying Congratulations is better. MGMT wanted to shock people [by] doing something different, and they most certainly did. It may not be as catchy as Kids or Time to Pretend but this is definitely the best album of 2010. MGMT has ventured into new territory. They have abandoned their poppy synth based songs and transformed their music into sheer instrumental bliss. To some, this album may be an acquired taste, but definitely one worth acquiring.
Key Tracks: Siberian Breaks, Brian Eno, Congratulations (below)

Top 10 Bands at Lollapalooza
10: Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes - I haven’t listened to much of their stuff but everything I’ve heard has been phenomenal! If you have never listened to them before they are definitely worth checking out.
9: The New Pornographers – Another band I have recently gotten into. I just recently picked up their new album Challengers and I am hooked. They are fantastic.
8: The Black Keys - It is about time The Black Keys start[ed] to gain popularity. I saw them perform on Letterman in 2008 and have been listening ever since.
7: The Strokes - I was going to try and make this list about most of the lower scale bands but I just couldn’t not include The Strokes, they’re just too good. Listen to their track, Last Night, below.
6: Grizzly Bear - Although I only recently started listening to them, Grizzly Bear has become one of the few bands I can listen to over and over without getting bored.
5: Matt & Kim - This duo from New York never cease to amaze me and I’m sure they will put on a fantastic show at Lolla this year.
4: Wolfmother - This hard rockin’ group of Aussies is one of my favorite bands. If you have never listened to Wolfmother before, prepare to have your mind blown.
3: Phoenix - Phoenix has taken the music world by storm with their incredible album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. I guarantee they will put on one hell of a show.
2: Arcade Fire - The best Canadian band of all time. Enough said.
1: MGMT - My all time favorite band. Their new album Congratulations has not left my CD player since I got it back in April. The best band playing Lollapalooza this year if not the best band on the festival circuit.
