Marian Hill played an incredible sold-out show last Monday night at Brooklyn Steel with support from Opia. Connecticut-based indie electronic duo Opia began the show with sultry lyrics and John Mayer-esque guitar riffs. Their songs entranced the crowd instantly, and they were particularly excited when the band played a cover of the classic Britney Spears hit “Baby One More Time.”
Marian Hill then took the stage with singer Samantha Gongol and production artist Jeremy Lloyd performing behind white sheets, silhouetted. They then moved from behind the sheets to begin their signature heavy dance sounds accompanied by catchy, sensual lyrics. The show was mesmerizing, with the crowd dancing and singing along to favorites like “Lips” and their latest hit, “Down.” Marian Hill has such a fun, jazzy signature sound and it’s quite a delight to see them selling out the new Brooklyn Steel. This duo will continue to deliver, no doubt.
