Here’s a band that I’m thoroughly fascinated by.  Finland-based band Rubik (@rubikband) is an eight-piece band that produces some of the most polished indie pop music I’ve come across in a very long time.  At first, I started listening as a guilty pleasure, but the more I listen, the more I’m convinced that this band is for real.  They are incredibly popy, and I absolutely love it.

Their lyrical ingenuity may leave something to be desired, but their instrumental arrangements, percussion and horns in particular, are absolutely stunning.  Lead vocalist Artturi Taira has the whole ‘Ben Gibbard/Jónsi thing’ going on, and if you know me at all, you would know that I’m all for that.  Rubik has successfully created a unique blend of pop that is so often missing in genre.
