If Lorde and Joanna Newsom joined together, you would have Lila Rose. The Toronto-born, California-based singer-songwriter has the elfin, idiosyncratic vocals of Newsom, with the pop sensibilities of Lorde. Her latest track, “All the Beauty”, follows a fairly conventional formula but builds to an explosive climax complete with wonderfully layered vocals, pounding drums, crashing cymbals and visceral screams. It’s an infectious ear worm equally at home in the pop indie-sphere as it could be on pop radio. Big things may be ahead for Ms. Rose.
