Lana Del Rey Gives More Swoony Retro Reverb With ‘Terrence Loves You’ [Stream]

Retro reverb transcends into a cloud of doom on “Terrence Loves You”, the third single off Lana Del Rey’s new album Honeymoon. With fitting revelations (I lost myself and I lost you too/ And I still get trashed when I hear your tunes), Del Rey serves her carefully studied 50s influences with toxic weight and thickness. Her feverish six part harmony adds depth, nearly enough to vindicate her naïveté in previously released “High by the Beach”. Perhaps it’s the slight smudge of guitar, perhaps the sparse element of jazz that gives it away, but it’s almost as though you can hear scads of mascara running down her eyes.
